Recently, I was asked to speak at our church’s monthly Women’s Meeting. Over the course of about two weeks prior to speaking, God consistently spoke to my heart these words, “Many Christians do not understand their authority in Christ to command ministering angels.” If you have ever seen in the spirit realm or if you can feel spiritual warfare happening, then you know that the spiritual realm is MORE real than this physical one where we live. Here are a few scriptures that support this Biblical fact: Hebrews 1:14-“Therefore, angels are only servants-spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.” Matthew 18:10–“Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in Heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father.” (words of Jesus). Hebrews 1: 5-6–“For God never said to any angel what He said to Jesus: You are my Son. Today, I have become your Father.” God also said, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son. Let all of God’s angels worship Him.”
3 Purposes of Angels:
- Angels Ensure Your Protection (Psalm 91, Matthew 4:11, Psalm 68:17)
- Angels Enforce Your Covenant Rights (Psalm 103: 20-21, Daniel 10:12)
- Angels Carry Out Your Deliverance (Psalm 34:17) Acts 12:7-But God’s people were praying and believing God for his protection, and an angel of the Lord stood by him (Peter), and a light shone in the prison, and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up saying, “Arise quickly. His chains fell off his hands.” Following the angel, Peter walked right out of there past all the guards without a hitch.
- If you have read any of my blogs, you probably know of my testimony with ministering angels. Just briefly, I will share my experience here. I was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia in April 2021. My heart and lungs were shutting down due to my blood not producing enough life giving oxygen. On arrival at a hospital that was equipped to care for critical patients, I began to code. I vaguely remember about 20 doctors and nurses coming into the room and hearing them send out “Code Blue.” My husband was asked if the doctor there could induce a medical coma to save my life. He asked if he could have five minutes to pray. Reluctantly, the doctor agreed. My husband, Bill, called our pastor. They asked God what to do and heard God say, “Do whatever it takes to save your wife’s life.” I remained in a medically induced coma for six days. My medical reports say, “A little worse, a little worse, a little worse; for five days. Doctors and nurses were not giving my husband or family much hope of me recovering. However, on the sixth day, my oncologist wrote, “She miraculously started to breathe on her on.” Well, I know that was God fulfilling his promise to me, my husband, and my family. “I will live and not die.” God’s spirit spoke to my spirit while I was in a coma. God said, “You have more assignments on earth, so it isn’t your time to go to heaven.” I also was in a constant state of spiritual awareness! My spirit spoke directly to God. I saw the ministering angels around my body. They were glorious! The wings were full of beautiful neon colors and light! They didn’t fly around, but their wings constantly moved, this allowed them to hover around my body. I asked God, “If I am not transitioning to heaven, then why are the angels around my body and why is this brilliant white light hovering over my body?” God said, “The prayers of the saints sent these angels to minister healing to your body quickly.” WOW! I will forever be grateful to the members of my church family, earthly family, and my faithful husband for those prayers!
What are Spiritual Portals?
The first reference, to a spiritual portal in the Bible is Jacob’s Dream at Bethel. It is found in Genesis 28: 10-17 “He came upon a certain place (Bethel), and lay down in that place to sleep. And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. Behold, angels were ascending and descending on it.” This is a portal left from Abraham’s altar there. This specific place held the remnants of blood sacrifices, and consecration to the all-mighty God of Israel. Obedience to God will bring blessings. Spiritual Portals are created by the obedience and sacrifice of our forefathers in the faith. Many revivals have experienced signs, wonders, and miracles from God because of the path that was paved by the obedience, prayers, fasting, and consecration of others.
What are Altars?
A biblical definition for altars is a place of worship to God, a place of remembrance of the miracles and provisions of God, and a place of sacrifice.
Altars can be thought of as supernatural landing strips or authority given in the spirit. Under the old covenant, priests were the only people given the right to enter into the Holy of Holies because that is where the presence of God dwelt. Under the new covenant, we are all given the delegated authority through the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ to enter into the Holy of Holies. The more we sacrifice our time, talents, offerings (money or things) to promote the Kingdom of God, the more God can bless us and use us in building His Kingdom. Of course, it has to start with an act of obedience. (I Samuel 15:22) When the Holy Spirit prompts us to say or do something, whatever it is, we need to act promptly! The more outlandish it may seem, the more God is trying to stretch us and get us out of our comfort zone. Go to the altar and surrender fully to God and then get ready for Him to use you in the Kingdom. It will start with small acts of obedience. God will test us to see if he can trust us. Trust is a two-lane street between God and us. (Matthew 25: 14-30 The Parable of the Talents)
What are Spiritual Doors & Gates?
In the spirit realm, our eyes and ears are spiritual doors. What we watch and listen to will get into our hearts and spirits. Trash in and trash out OR Treasure in and Treasure out. Which do you choose? As an educator, I implore all parents to guard what is watched and listened to on TV, ipads, or iphones! Satan is out to take our children! It may seem harmless at first, but distractions from God and addictions to the dopamine that “entertainment” gives us is REAL! I have seen this in children as young as two years old. We are NOT called to be our children’s “friend”. We are called to take our parental authority in Christ over our children. They are loaned to us by God and we are to steward them well in the things of God. PRAY for your children daily! Honor God and He will honor you. He always keeps his promises to us. Stand on the promises of God concerning your children. (Proverbs 17:6; Prov. 20:22; Prov. 6:7; Prov. 31:28; Psalm 127:4). Those are just a few scriptures about raising Godly children. But I would be amiss if I didn’t say that this starts with us, as parents, being a Godly example. I teach children at my church (ages 5-11). These children often come in wanting my attention and to be heard! I do think that some of this stems from parents being too busy to listen to them or spend quality time with them. God wants us to sit in his presence and to recognize HIM as the maker of all beautiful things around us in nature. I challenge all parents to spend a whole day just in nature with your children OR just ask your child/ren what is something they would like to do with you. They might surprise you what they ask to do.
DOORS of ministry/work- I often feel God pressing on my heart to do things that many people would not want to do. Obedience=Blessings! Some of these jobs and ministry callings were hard and continue to be hard. But, I know God spoke to my heart, “I have called you to do hard things because I can trust you.” Again, we have to establish that TRUST with God. It is a two-lane street.
GATES-Spiritual Gates represent access to things of the Spiritual realm; both good and evil; light and dark. God has established gatekeepers for His people. Ezra 7:7 (NLT)-“Some of the Israelites, including priests, Levites, musicians, gatekeepers, and temple servants, also came up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes.” Ezra was a prophet of God. He records God’s providence and faithfulness in restoring a Jewish remnant from exile in Babylon. This book tells how God provided Godly and capable leaders to lead the returning remnant in a revival of worship, commitment to God’s word, and repentance. A gatekeeper should be an intercessor! He/she seeks God’s divine discernment in knowing who to allow access to spiritual knowledge or to the leaders of their church. Gatekeepers pray a “hedge of protection” around the pastor, elders, deacons, and ministry leaders of their church, community, nation, and worldwide.
Ask God for Spiritual Dreams and Visions
God wants to give you dreams and visions! (Joel 2: 28-29) At the last Women’s Meeting, we discussed this topic. Often, we are so busy during the day that we fail to hear God’s voice. I have learned to give God my imagination and dreams for Him to inhabit and speak to me. Back on March 4, 2020, I was new to Word Fellowship Church. We were having what we call Circle Church. This consists of asking the congregation to make a circle holding hands and praying for God to inhabit our prayers and worship. I have never been in a Circle Church session that God didn’t do just that! Now, let’s go back to March 4, 2020, Circle Church was in session. Our pastor, Roger Reed, came to give me a word from the Lord. It was so powerful that I could barely stand. It was HEAVY! The glory of God carries a weight and heaviness. I have experienced God’s presence many times, but this time was more intense than EVER! The Word from the Lord to me was, “Your testimony will shake the gates of hell.” WOW! I did not know what all this entailed or what I was going to face in the future. BUT, I did know that God had always been with me and seen me through some hard situations. He had proven to be faithful to me in every way in the past, so why wouldn’t I trust Him. After that night of Circle Church, our pastor asked anyone who felt led to do a Lent fast. I thought only Catholics did Lent. However, I did some research and learned that Lent means Spring in Hebrew. Lent is 40 days of fasting from sunup until sundown, usually 40 days before the resurrection of Jesus (Easter). I asked the Lord to help me fast for 40 days from sunup until sundown. I did it with His strength and help! During those 40 days of fasting, I had at least one vivid spiritual dream a week and sometimes two. I have recorded some of those dreams in my past blogs. If you need clarity from God, I would recommend that you start by fasting one day a week. I need God’s supernatural help to deny my flesh of food, but when I am faithful to complete a fast, I experience clarity and the power of God’s presence in a radical way! Start with 24 hours. It does not have to be food. It can be Social Media, sugar, carbs, or whatever God leads you to fast. Then try to complete a three day fast. I have done this a few times. It is more difficult, but the spiritual dreams and clarity for me did increase. It is extremely important to not tell people you are doing a fast. I have found it is important to share only with your spouse for obvious reasons. But other people do not need to know. It is strictly between you and God. Honor God and He will honor you. Satan has and continues to try to rob us of our power and authority that comes through the sacrifice of Jesus. Mark 9:29 (KJV) And he (Jesus) said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.” This is referring to a father bringing his demon-possessed boy to the disciples to cast out a demon. But, the disciples could not cast out the demon. When they asked Jesus why they couldn’t, Jesus answered in Mark 9:29. However, many Bible translations read differently. Here are some of those translations: New International Version: He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.” New Living Translation: Jesus replied, “This kind can be cast out only by prayer.” English Standard Version: And he said to them, “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer.” I am NOT suggesting that any of these versions of the Bible are not edifying to the body of Christ. I read my New Living Translation Bible almost daily and I love it. But, I do believe there is a reason that the fasting element of this powerful verse was dropped from these and other translations. THERE IS POWER & AUTHORITY GIVEN when we sacrifice and deny our flesh in obedience to God’s calling.
